Policy Strategy Consulting

Turning Community Concerns Into Policy Wins

Policy is where the concerns of everyday people either get translated into meaningful change or lost in bureaucratic language that never reaches the people it affects. Bridging that gap requires understanding both the lived experience of a community and the technical language that legislators, regulators, and government agencies respond to.

With more than fifteen years of experience working directly on Capitol Hill across a wide range of issues, including women's rights and reproductive rights, voting rights, immigration and refugee policy, and foreign policy issues including advocacy for a ceasefire in Israel and Palestine, this consulting work is grounded in firsthand knowledge of how policy actually moves through legislative and regulatory processes. This experience extends to helping nonprofits, faith communities, advocacy coalitions, and government entities translate community priorities into policy positions that are both principled and strategically effective.

Whether the issue is local, such as a zoning decision affecting a neighborhood, or national, such as immigration reform or foreign policy, the underlying skill is the same, taking complex community concerns and shaping them into a policy position that decision makers can act on. This work is especially valuable for organizations that have clear values and community support but need help articulating those priorities in the language of policy.
